What is Pactra?
Pactra is an AI-powered contract review platform that reads, scores, and explains contracts in minutes. It flags risky clauses, compares your document against standard market terms, and delivers plain-English explanations so you can negotiate from an informed position without waiting for outside counsel.

Pactra is built for anyone who regularly reads, negotiates, or signs contracts: in-house legal teams, operations managers, procurement leads, startup founders, freelancers, and solo practitioners. If a contract lands on your desk and you need to understand it quickly, Pactra is for you.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account starts with 3 free analyses, no credit card required. You can see the full depth of Pactra's output before committing to any plan.
Do I need to be a lawyer to use Pactra?
No. Pactra is designed for non-lawyers and lawyers alike. Its output is written in plain English, with risk scores and highlighted clauses so anyone can act on the findings. Lawyers use it to move faster; non-lawyers use it to understand what they're signing.
How it works
What file types does Pactra accept?
Pactra accepts PDF, DOCX, and DOC files. Most contracts you receive by email will be in one of these formats. Support for additional formats (ODT, RTF) is on the roadmap.
How long does an analysis take?
Most contracts are fully analyzed in under 5 minutes. Complex multi-party agreements or documents over 100 pages may take slightly longer. You'll receive an in-app notification and email when your report is ready.
What does a Pactra analysis include?
Every analysis includes: an overall risk score (A+ to F), clause-by-clause risk flags, plain-English explanations of concerning language, comparison against standard market terms, a negotiation priority list, and a downloadable summary report.
Can Pactra compare two versions of a contract?
Yes. The comparison tool lets you upload two documents — for example, your first draft and a redline returned by the other side — and Pactra highlights every change and re-scores the risk delta between versions.
Privacy & security
Is my contract data private?
Yes. All files are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Your documents are processed in an isolated environment and are never shared with other users or third parties.
Is my contract data used to train AI models?
Never. Zero contracts — past, present, or future — are used to train any AI model. This is a hard product guarantee, not a setting you need to configure.
How long does Pactra keep my documents?
Documents are automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity. You can also delete individual analyses or your entire account at any time from the settings page.
Is Pactra SOC 2 compliant?
Pactra is actively pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification. Enterprise customers with specific compliance requirements should contact us — we can share our current security posture documentation.
Plans & billing
What plans are available?
Pactra offers five tiers — Basic, Starter, Professional, Business, and Enterprise — covering everything from occasional solo use to high-volume team workflows. See the Pricing page for a full breakdown.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans cancel immediately with no penalty. Annual plans are non-refundable but access continues until the end of the billing period.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at your next billing date so you keep your current features until then.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) via Stripe. Enterprise customers can request invoice-based billing.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes — Pactra offers discounts for nonprofits, early-stage startups, law school clinics, and solo practitioners. Visit our discounts page or contact us to apply.
Teams & integrations
Can multiple team members share an account?
Business and Enterprise plans include team seats with role-based access. Each team member gets their own login; admins can manage permissions and view team-wide activity from the admin dashboard.
Does Pactra integrate with other tools?
Pactra integrates with Google Drive, Dropbox, and DocuSign, with more on the roadmap. You can also forward contracts directly via email intake (available on Starter and above) and access all functionality through the REST API on Professional plans and above.
Is there an API?
Yes. The Pactra REST API is available on Professional plans and above. It lets you trigger analyses, retrieve reports, and embed contract intelligence into your existing workflows. API documentation is available in the developer settings.
